      I think it can be healthy if you truly can set aside the disagreement for the sake of the relationship, but that’s not always possible or even appropriate. In my case, I just shoved down years of arguments and jabs in the name of “the big picture” or “being the bigger person” until my wife and I were left with a pile of resentment and a husk of a relationship with few redeeming qualities.

      We’re in counseling and I still don’t know if we’ll be able to fix things. Just don’t be like me. Have some self-respect and communicate your feelings when you feel them.
