Who said they were teaching Dems a lesson?

That would imply they thought the Dems didn’t know why they lost, which seems pretty silly since it was quite obvious.

I have some people tagged that were ferocious anti kamala, that are now criticizing Trump.

And seeming pretty reasonable whilst doing so.

Not in the cases i’m on about, but sure.

I just picked up on their ferocious rhetoric, and insanity in the discussion in election time. And found them quite level headed afterward. Even arguing the opposite way from what they did before for instance concerning Trump.

That behavior strikes me as curious, it could be gained insight or something malignant, I’m undecided.

The reason the discourse was more focused on Harris is because virtually everyone on the fediverse is already on the same page about hating Trump, while there’s disagreement about Harris. Nobody on here argued for voting Trump, unless a lost conservative wandered in in which case they were downvoted to hell and criticized by everyone.

You don’t understand how someone could be anti-genocide, or anti-empire, or anti-war no matter which candidate is pushing it?

I don’t see how it’s that hard, if you have principles that transcend parties.

If you were actually any of those things you would have voted for the candidate that lead to less genocide, less empire and less war.

I hated Kamala too for all the reasons you listed, but I held my fucking nose and voted for her anyway because I knew any conservative was going to be worse in all those categories and Kamala had the only chance of beating him.

Not voting was the pro-genocide vote. There would be less people dead and less people in fucking concentration camps if Kamala had won.

I did vote for that candidate.

Not voting was the pro-genocide vote.

No, it was the “genocide is fine, I don’t care” choice. Voting for Kamala was the pro-genocide choice. She was very clear about that.

There would be less people dead and less people in fucking concentration camps if Kamala had won.

Citation needed. She fully supported Biden when he was bombing kids, and sending immigrants to torture camps. She also said Trump was too soft on Iran.

Not that it matters, it all feels inevitable, the demos would just sell out their country too, just quieter, as loud ass idiots pull tantrums until their party is in and do this wrecking ball shit anyway. At least this way has kicked people in the ass about the state of the world, if we make it out the other end without too much injury, it might just be a better world…

For us to be “absolutists” about compromise, we would first have to be offered a compromise. A compromise implies actually getting something that you want. We were given nothing, not listened to, no dialogue whatsoever, treated with contempt, not even purely symbolic gestures like allowing a Palestinian speaker at the convention. Meanwhile the Biden administration bypassed congress in order to flood Israel with weapons, while Harris did nothing to indicate she would act differently. To go along with that would not be a compromise, but total capitulation on everything we stand for, in exchange for nothing. That we are absolutely opposed to.

There may be some people who are absolutists regarding compromise, but all I can say is that those people haven’t actually read theory. Even Lenin himself was highly critical of the position of “no compromises,” but while making the distinction between compromise and capitulation.

But there isn’t really a debate to be had about whether a compromise would have been acceptable in that situation because no compromise was ever offered to us for us to reject. Get them to give us an olive branch first, and if we reject it then you can accuse us of being absolutists.

Yeah, isn’t it terrible that people accurately point out when both sides keep pushing shit candidates and shit policies? If only there was some way to stop that.

Tell me, how have any of those things you mentioned improved with Trump?

They haven’t at all. I’m not sure why Libs keep asking me this, since I’ve never once claimed that they would be better under Trump. I love that Libs keep accusing me of things that I’ve never said, or claimed, because they can’t actually defend the awful decisions that their party makes.

Funny that new users jump on with these naive bullshit takes, like somehow voting for Jesus Christ himself in November 2022 was an option.

Yeah, isn’t it weird that people new people arrive and sign up to a system that lets them join? Crazy.

I also find it funny that, when we were pointing out that the Dems were going to lose to Trump by running such shit-tier candidates, and shit-tier policies, we were told that the only reason we thought that, was because we were Russian assets.

Of course, genocide being unpopular, or Biden being a terrible President and candidate, or the Dems sticking with unpopular policies, and screwing over their voting base aren’t to blame. It’s the people who thought bombing kids is bad, or genocide is bad, or that torture is bad who are really to blame.

Not sure what USAID has to do at all with this conversation, but I’ll entertain it.

Leftists reject the notion that USAID is simply a wholesome charity. It was the US arm of soft power, and it was an imperialist institution. If you are truly interested in this “disingenuous” take, see the Jacobin article on it.

            https://web.archive.org/web/20260410222517/https://jacobin.com/2025/02/usaid-digital-imperialism-trump-tech

It tied aid to the adoption of neoliberal policies, privatization, and the opening of markets to US corporations. A striking example is the case of Haiti, where USAID pushed for trade liberalization and other neoliberal policies in the 1980s, leading to the collapse of domestic rice production in favor of cheap, subsidized imports in the 1990s. The result was devastating: Haiti became dependent on foreign aid for basic food security, its agricultural sector gutted to serve US agribusiness interests.

              Nice cherry picking,

You sailed right past that same article’s agreement that the sudden cease in funding will harm millions.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face is not a compliment.
