Another week, another “What are you playing this week?”-thread.
What are you playing this week? What are you having a good time with?
I’m playing a game called white knuckle. Its a climbing sim with roguelike elements. It embodies the slow is smooth and smooth is fast idea and is one of the more scary horror games imo. I haven’t got very far yet (just the second zone) but it is a very satisfying loop.
I’m also playing dawnwalker. I really like the time mechanic, it makes my choices feel like they matter far more than any morality system. The writing is very good so far and has some dynamics you don’t see often, I really like how the anca romance resolves, I think it’s something we don’t see much in media generally.
I’ve been playing way to many Early Access roguelites. I also bounce around a lot.
Serpent’s Gaze - Dark Souls-ish roguelite
Forsworn - BG3 meets Slay the Spire, no story elements just combat encounters.
Shape of Dreams - League of Legends but single player and not filled with assholes.
TMNT: Splintered Fate - Hades with Ninja Turtles.
Pathogenic - Top down shooter.Pathogenic. It’s a pretty fun rougelite shmup crossed with the microbe level of Spore.
That game is frustratingly addictive. I’ve beat the heart once and haven’t even gotten to the brain yet.
Monster Hunter Wilds for the most part, it’s true what everyone said, the game only started when the story end. For the most part the story is pretty average monster hunter story and i don’t mind the cutscene, but the execution is absolutely worst in every possible way. It’s hand holding, people yap so much it drags way longer than it should, and for the most part it play itself with no user input. The pacing is so wrong it start off so slow and then nearing the end they just throw you fight after fight after fight, and the final “civilisation ending monster” is a low rank elder dragon that is slightly stronger than the average low rank monster but weaker than yian kutku.
Still good game though. I like what they did with light bowgun, it is a viable early game weapon now.
Pixelmon mod for Minecraft. I downloaded it for my boy but I’ve been playing at night building a cozy relaxing town for us and he’s been enjoying it in the day. It’s the greatest video gaming experience of my life
Aww :)
I caved and bought Wardogs, pretty fun so far. Also added Zero Company to my ever growing backlog (fun so far, famous last words being that it feels a little easy so far).
I also got Blood of the Dawnwalker, very fun. I thought the time limit would feel painful but it’s refreshing to have to choose what to do rather than do literally everything.
Still Cyberpunk 2077 but I entered Phantom Liberty!
And occasionally Open Sudoku on Android.
Valheim and Kingdom Come Deliverance II.
I’m playing Resonance a Plague Tale Legacy and I am finding it quite interesting.
While it is loosely directly linked to the previous games when it comes to gameplay, there are enough elements that remind you of the original games. I also like how they use past and present in a smart way to move gameplay and story further.
If you liked 3d prince of persia games, you may like this one too.
I’ve put a pause on Cyberpunk 2077. I wanna level up before getting into main story too much.
Managed to beat Risk of Rain Returns on Monsoon difficulty, without any Artifacts. It wasn’t even that hard, once I stopped trying to loop and went straight for the final level (looping and becoming a god is most of the fun though).
Then I installed some gameplay mods for a bit of variety, but an update broke like half of them, so I gotta wait for a fix.
As an alternative I played some Risk of Rain 2 for the first time since launch, along with all the DLC, and I got no idea what’s going on.
Been doing some achievement hunting in Atomfall, since it’s leaving GamePass.
Also still running around through the Postal series. I decided to do a second run lol.
