It would be one thing if they were actually poor, they’re from Labor Aristocratic to Petite Bourgeoisie backgrounds full of opportunities elsewhere. It’s more of a rule rather than the exception that these recruits have a support net already back home (Your civilian life is entirely interrupted and stalled in Capitalist society). They’re also not conscripted, which explains the saturation of non-poors already, but also the inclination to be literally the most reactionary forces. It would be nice if veterans, regardless, denounced their actions and the war- but a lot of them don’t so… Maybe if the conditions changed? Probably not because again, these enlisting soldiers come from backgrounds of entirely different interests.
