The AvP aliens and Diablo 1 Butcher are brilliant. But also would like to add two creatures from Dead Space: the wall snake, and the one who regenerates.
Motivation/spoilers
The wall snake is more of a surprise. But it is such a great setup. You walk into a corridor and you see a hole in the wall. You are very careful not to take your eyes off it. Then you exit, nothing happened. You ho on, do some other stuff, and you have forgotten all about it. Then bam you opened the door to the corridor but forgot about it, a snake grabs you and throws you arround, and you realize where you are.
And the regenerating one. Brilliant. You face it, start you usual thing, shoot the limbs, it goes down, nice. It fucking regrows its limbs?! Run! Slow it down, run, slow, run, …
