I’ve had the long hair for 6 years and recently adopted the short hair (2023). This is the closest they have been to each other since. So much for getting another cat for companionship. I do work with them to try and build a relationship, but cats will be cats.
Ours were much the same for a long while, until eventually they got so close they would sleep together and one would even lick the other.
Don’t give up just yet!
I’ll keep at it! Thank you for the vote of confidence.
We adopted 2 brothers and they never sleep together like this. One of em has urinary issues and the doctor insists it might be stress related and that we should consider getting rid of 1 of the 2 :(
I would suggest a second opinion, if feasible. Also, I bought a couple of the “calming diffusers” with pheromones, etc. It isn’t a fix, but I figured it can’t hurt. Also, for working with them… They do enjoy my company. When they both come to me looking for scratches, I grab a couple “calming treats” to give them, in hopes that they get a positive reaction when they are together. Maybe see if that helps. I hope they get better!
I adopted a senior kitty a couple years ago and have been wondering if she wants a senior female friend. I wish I could just ask.
They both look like they told you not to post this
I think I can tell which one prefers the distance.
The long-hair always has a look of disgust after adopting the short-hair. You are correct!
Haha, that’s like the exact opposite of me. I had a shorthair female for about 5 years before recently adopting a Longhair male. They also hate each other. 😂
Acquaintance has an older female cat, first they adopted some other cats which she wasn’t thrilled about, then her BFF died :( She is a one-cat house now and very happy. She still gets upset if other cats come around (fosters etc) :(
What the heck? Another dingus!
In a way, we are all dinguses.
