scupking83: Hell yeah it’s worth $199… Get it and then upgrade when Quest 4 comes out.
BobulousPaper: Depend…
If you can afford Quest3 go for the newer model. If not, heck yah it does 99% of what quest3 does minus Mixtreality.
TaurenX: Does mixed reality too lol
Simply is black and white low res
BobulousPaper: The app with mr dont work on quest 2
TaurenX: 2022
mark5hs: No it doesn’t
lakolda: And pancake lenses.
vvntn: As an owner of both models, this is probably the most important upgrade, because it affects the entire experience.
Improved AR is pretty great, but I’d still take the new lenses+display over it, if it were a choice.
The controller redesign is also great, the halos were awful aesthetically, less portable, and prone to crash into each other in certain games.
ItsACowCity: Being able to read small text is a game changer. That and smoothly going over to the fridge and grab another beer without leaving the headset.
Microtic: Keep in mind it might end up being like the Quest 1. Retired within 12-24 months from price drop. Features in the OS removed, games discontinued from support and multiplayer.
Arthropodesque: Maybe, but they have far more millions of Quest 2 users than 1. People are still buying them and buying games on them. I think it will have a longer lifespan.
One-Fail-1: Insane amount of tech and library for $200.
ShadowL9: $200 plus $50 in store credit is a great deal. If you want decent VR at a reasonable price this is a no brainer. Casual games like walkabout mini golf and beat saber work great still on it.
Open_Nerve1802: Where does it say 50 store credit ?
OvertlyInspected: It’s a $50 META STORE credit you receive, if you buy it at Walmart
ShadowL9: Walmart has it with the credit
VioletFirewind: Also get a £5 cable and you can play everything on PC VR with it.
ipwnpickles: I’d say yes but they have a bad record of supporting customers with older headsets (former GearVR and Quest1 owner here). Hopefully the larger customer base with Q2 will keep active support for longer
borosky1: Q2 does indeed have a huge base compared to any other headset. I wonder what the actual numbers are.
IanaLorD: Last year there were articles, saying Facebook quoted it as 20 million
Mehdals_: I just got it for $250 with a 50 credit and its been getting a ton of use. I was on the fence and ive been happy with my purchase. Playing Beat saber for excercise, contractors for zombies and FPS, Blade and sorcery to mess around with and Puzzling places for some chill puzzles. Only thing I would recommend with the headset is a new strap.
ItsACowCity: If you’ve got friends and a good computer, I suggest Surv1v3 for zombies.
fsocietyARG: No pr0n?
WutsTheScoreHere: That alone makes the price tag worth it
CMDR_KingErvin: What do you think he meant by beat saber? The game? Pffffff. Only saber I’m beating is this one 👇
WutsTheScoreHere: That alone makes it worth the $
OskO: It’s insane value for an entry level VR headset.
swirlymaple: Even though the Quest 3 made many incremental improvements over the Quest 2, the actual user experience between the two is more alike than different. I actually still find the Quest 2 slightly more comfortable, and the lenses and screens in Q2 still look pretty good by current standards.
I think the real question/consideration is whether Meta drops support for the Q2 like they did the Q1, and gradually things stop working.
Presto123ubu: Heck yes it is worth it. For a while, I wasn’t using mine very often, but now I’m using it pretty much daily for Horizon Worlds or VR Chat having met some cool people to chat with. All on quest 2. Still fun to hit up beat saber from time to time.
robaldeenyo: it’s simple… if you can’t afford a quest 3… quest 2 is fantastic still.
Used-Journalist-36: Definitely.
mindonshuffle: It’s an excellent value, but not something I’d recommend unless somebody really knew what they were buying.
I think the difference between the 2 and the 3 is pretty dramatic. I find the 3 much, much more comfortable on my eyes. Even though I liked my 2 and got plenty of use from it, I use the 3 a LOT more because it’s more pleasant to use and easier to hop in and out.
Mahansingh: What you mean?
seanvance: Quest 2 is a mature device. The user experience is well tuned. I am confident support will continue.
Redcloud1313: Still happy with my quest 2. I’m not sure when I will feel like I need to upgrade.
OvertlyInspected: Two minutes after you try the Q3 the first time
Redcloud1313: Haha yea that’s probably true. That’s why I’m avoiding that as long as possible.
OvertlyInspected: Hey, the Q2 is still great. I have both. When my nephews come over they use both. It’s a great VR headset and has a number of years of fun still left in it. The Q3 lenses are the biggest advantage over the Q2 to me. There really is a big difference
