I remember being taught the white-washed version of that story and being told by our teacher to “ignore the fact that [one of the characters] was lusting after a minor” and decided to age them up because even they thought that was really gross. Then I learned the real version of what happened at Salem and it all made sense. Basically a bunch of fascists wanted to root out the “communists” (aka black people and women who got too “uppity”) so they basically invented a justification to murder anyone who spoke out against them while they slaughtered the town.

Now with the direct ties between nazism and pedophilia becoming clear as crystal, it’s not hard to see what was happening there.
