Now, Mr. Putin and his lieutenants are pointing fingers at Ukraine, trying to deflect attention from a question that would be front and center in any nation with an independent media and open debate in its politics: How did Russia’s vast intelligence and law enforcement apparatus, despite significant warnings, fail to head off one of the biggest terrorist attacks in the country in Mr. Putin’s nearly quarter century in power?
Israel’s security was also useless (and friendly fire is still a big uncertainty), France’s security was also useless…
Pretty much. It’s as if having massive, invasive privacy intrusion in the name of national security against terrorists/whatever is an excuse to spy on political opponents/activists/etc.
Israel likely intentionally allowed the attack to happen, since it gave them a pretext to invade Palestine. It worked perfectly.
Seems like that conspiracy would require more people not leaking it, ever, than just being incompetent in counter insurgency like every other military force in modern times.
Well it DOES help that the IDF is amongst the most experienced liars in the world, with the willing suspension of disbelief of most of the leaders of the western world working in their favor to this day.
