In that case I’ve been leaning on the side of Russia from the beginning, cause the US had broken a treaty to not expand NATO east a bunch of times, then they used a color revolution filled with neo-Nazis to drive a wedge between Ukraine and Russia and to cap it off they tried to bring Ukraine into NATO, that is a full on explicit threat to Russia. Russia expressed before attacking that if this deal went through things would get bad. And if I’m not mistaken there is a US government document from 2017 or maybe even earlier reaching the same conclusion that if Ukraine were to adhere to NATO Russia would invade. So it was a clear US provocation, in a moment of despair where Biden had abysmal acceptance ratings and China was on track to becoming the biggest economy(by some metrics already there).
So yeah Russia has a lot of bad and I have no love for Putin. But on this one I thought they at the very least had reasonable justification for the aggression, head and shoulders above of any justification US had for starting any conflict post WWII
What’s SMO?
It’s short of the Special Military Operation that Russia launched in February 2022.
