I hate that “Libertarianism” in US-english means those “free” market dumbasses.
It actually meant anarchist (anti-capitalist) originally and was a euphemism for anarchist when it was banned to be one. It still means that in French generally.
I mean, it’s not atypical for Americans to completely redefine a political definition so badly it loses all meaning. Just look at how most of us define our “leftist” leadership…
Idk I went to a public HS and we had a good coverage of the gilded age. Reflecting on that as I got older is a big part of why I moved away from thinking capitalism is good.

Yeah… Our education system isn’t big on political history, or really history in general.
