That said, I do agree w/ forgiving someone who does something terrible to your family. But forgiveness doesn’t mean you try to remove all consequences, it just means you move on from hating the person to focusing on recovery. That individual should absolutely face consequences for their actions, and it should certainly call into question whatever you thought you knew about them.
