    Well, you got a big chunk of the population consuming media and information tailored to get them to be angry, afraid, and cruel. A chunk of them are self aware enough realize it’s wrong and are insecure about it, and the reflexive response of any insecure person is to assume you’re being looked down on.

    Depression makes it difficult to be nice when my brain is telling me that I should be fucking miserable all the time for no god damn reason.

        Because the first comment in the OOP is clearly a virtue signal. They are saying “I’m so nice, I literally can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t live up to my level of perfection.”

          You are really projecting a lot onto someone that literally just said it’d be cool if people were nicer. Is that really your idea of “unachievable perfection”? Just being nice?

            Given the circumstances and histories of everyone, yes. Being nice can be extremely hard for some people.
