So I’m going to be setting up a miniature media network between an old Dell OptiPlex 7080 Micro, my desktop, and a NAS that’s expected to arrive in the near future. I’m currently using an old Cisco M10 router as an interface between the OptiPlex and my desktop for getting the OptiPlex set up as a streaming station using LibreELEC, and it’s not going very well because of the limited speeds (about 11 MB/s for larger file sizes that I’m using as a test for the setup). I’ve been looking at both Netgear and TP-Link network switches, but I haven’t really seen a difference between the two besides personal preference. The two I’ve mainly been looking at are the TP-Link TL-SG105 and the Netgear GS305 due to the good reviews and the decent pricing on them. I just want to get some input and advice before I finalize my decision, as this is the first time I’ve done any sort of networking besides setting up a Wi-Fi router for friends or family.
