Do the animals die when you harvest meat? Or do they grow new meat bits every day?
The base game has no meat that I can recall - cows and goats produce milk, chickens+ducks eggs, sheep wool, and rabbits make rabbits feet and wool. None of this harms the animal.
Rabbits feet harvesting do harm the rabbit, im quite sure
