DragonHeart: Vengeance (2020) on Blu-ray – surprisingly solid fantasy on a budget.

I didn’t even know this series was still a thing. The original DragonHeart came out in 1996 with Sean Connery as the dragon and made enough money to be called a “success.” Mild, but enough.

Since then? Four sequels. Straight to video. And this one, Vengeance, is the latest entry.

Now here’s where it gets interesting: it’s not bad. The world-building is way more fleshed out than I expected, the cast actually delivers, and there’s a streak of humour that keeps it moving.

Honestly, it embarrasses some of the bloated fantasy films that did make it to theatres. Looking at you, Seventh Son and Gods of Egypt.

Ten bucks got me the Blu-ray, a DVD, and a digital code. No regrets.

@movies
My kiddo loved this one when she was younger.
I watched so many terrible direct to video sequels in my youth I avoid them harder than I do Netflix shows that I know will be canceled after 1 or 2 really good seasons.
Original was great.
