I apologize in advance for any mistakes, as English is not my first language. I am a Software Engineer living in the US, and I will be visiting Egypt for a month. I currently use OpenVPN to connect to my work database. However, in Egypt, OpenVPN is one of the restricted VPNs. During my previous visit a few months ago, I faced this issue and ended up discovering a VPN that works in Egypt alongside OpenVPN. My approach was to initiate that VPN first and then run OpenVPN. Despite experiencing slower internet, there were no other issues.

This time, I’m hoping to find a more effective solution. So I have been doing research and trying different things and so far I am unsuccessful. Last thing I tried was acquiring a droplet on Digital Ocean and attempted to set up an SSH tunnel to that machine, intending to then run OpenVPN on my laptop. Unfortunately, I’ve encountered some problems with this setup. I wanted to reach out to the community to inquire if there might be a better solution available or if I mine is good and I need to figure it out.
