This still seems like the #1 entry port for folks who are new to Lemmy, but it is pretty out of date. It still recommends Combustible, which never had a stable release (Oct 1, 2023 Alpha 0.1.1), lemmyBB, with no known instances (Apr 24, 2023), Lunar, which never left Testflight (Dec 12, 2023), and the same for Memmy (Nov 6, 2023).
At the same time it is missing lots of recent apps, such as Connect, Interstellar, Arctic, or Tesseract.
Would it be possible to use a tool similar to LemmyApps or the API to keep the list updated automatically?
anyone can update the list and make a pull request https://github.com/LemmyNet/joinlemmy-site/blob/main/src/shared/components/app-definitions.ts#L459
Oh, that’s great! I don’t know how to do that, but I assume it’s pretty easy to Google, and I’ll need to set up an account?
Yeah you’ll need an account. Once you have an account the easiest way to edit is to click the pencil icon at the top right of the file in the website. You can edit in the web browser and then submit a pull request from there automatically.
Thanks, I’ll give it a try!
Great points and awesome of you to bring it up!
Don’t forget:
- Jerboa
- Voyager
I think the site chooses a random order of available apps and cuts off after a certain number. Not all apps will show up but if you narrow the list or refresh, then you can see all of those listed.
Oh, TIL.
Thanks for letting us know!
