Here they seem to conflate the Red Army with Russians which is deeply ignorant and ahistorical:
This is a good point, but she is literally responding to people today, in the context of modern Ukraine’s avowed Nazism. This is dealt with in that very thread. Plus your measurements are that of the Ukrainian superstate, and not a breakdown of its nations. Many of these “Ukrainian” deaths will have been at the hands of Ukrainian Nazis.
There’s Ukraine, and there’s “Ukraine”.
Let me make this clear: You were not victims of the Third Reich. You did not suffer just as Jews or Soviet POWs. You pledged allegiance to Hitler and were the perpetrators in mass genocides! And we will not let you rewrite history and play as if you were the victims!
Yes this is obviously incorrect.
This is asinine. Nazis viewed Ukrainians as subhumans only fit for slavery and extermination. Vast majority of Ostarbeiters, slaves sent to Nazi Germany from Eastern Europe, were Ukrainians, millions of them. Millions more were killed, Ukraine losses were immense.
But now you’re guilty of the same omission. Where is your mention of the Banderites etc.?
I am not sure how ethnic Russians of Ukraine view Ukrainians there , I mean there is a huge fall out between who is an ethnically pure Ukrainian or a Russian. These Donbassians , Odessa people all have Ukrainian roots but they claim to be more Russian or have affinity towards Russian language. Whereas those who proclaim they are Ukrainian in today’s context it explicitly means they have pro western banderite position.
So when Russian speakers say something like you don’t understand the pain of jews or POWs , they are talking about ideological Ukrainians not the ethnically ones , there are also ethnic Russians who have attested their faith towards Bandera in Ukraine too.
I understood this when I interacted with an Ukrainian man from Russia who was born and brought up in USSR. He explicitly stated people like him will be butchered straight way in current Ukraine.
she is literally responding to people today, in the context of modern Ukraine’s avowed Nazism
no? the post is about WW2 and they end it with “None of this relates to current geopolitical issues”
Ukrainian superstate, and not a breakdown of its nations
There’s Ukraine, and there’s “Ukraine”.
what are you smoking mate? no there’s just Ukraine.
regions of Ukraine speaking Russian language to different extent doesn’t mean Ukraine is made up of several nations
are parts of Ireland where English is mainly spoken actually England to you?
But now you’re guilty of the same omission. Where is your mention of the Banderites etc.?
Existence of Banderites is irrelevant to the question of whether Ukraine as a whole can be considered a victim of Nazi Germany.
10 million Ukrainians were killed by Nazis, 2.5 millions were enslaved, 5 million served in the Red Army. Compare that to ~200 thousand or so Wehrmacht collaborators.

Yes. I don’t care what the post is about. Again, she is literally responding to people today, in the context of modern Ukraine’s avowed Nazism.

That’s quite literally, in every way, exactly what that means. I don’t know what to say to you if we can’t work off of basic definitions of words.
are parts of Ireland where English is mainly spoken actually England to you?
No but the Travelling community, an Mincéirí, who have their own dialect would be their own nation within Ireland. It doesn’t need to be a language. The nation of Islam, the Sioux nations… these all speak English in the USA. etc. Ukraine, the state, was a bad idea because it was comprised of so many nations, historically separated by culture and language. Blame Lenin and Kruschev.
Existence of Banderites is irrelevant to the question of whether Ukraine as a whole can be considered a victim of Nazi Germany.
You can’t talk about Ukraine as a whole, is my point.
10 million Ukrainians were killed by Nazis, 2.5 millions were enslaved, 5 million served in the Red Army. Compare that to ~200 thousand or so Wehrmacht collaborators.
And today over 70% of them subscribe to Nazism. These are the people being spoken to in the tweet.
Don’t let neonazis rewrite history.
I hope you’re not calling the twitter poster a neo Nazi here.

Yeah exactly. Not everyone who was traditionally part of the Ukrainian state was of the same nation.
I understood this when I interacted with an Ukrainian man from Russia who was born and brought up in USSR. He explicitly stated people like him will be butchered straight way in current Ukraine.
