Eh, if they were moving towards a more focused, less ridiculously “ai” model, it would make sense to stop spending resources on something that’s not even tangential to their core purposes. But they’re wasting those resources chasing “ai” bullshit, and trying to edge into the ad market.

I mean, as long as the browser and thunderbird stay open source, I don’t really care overall, but it’s still not great.

Every time my phone shuts off for running out of battery, it’s due to Firefox for some stupid reason. Chrome is somehow worse though, just in different ways. Perhaps I should investigate other things like LibreWolf, but if it were clearly better than either, I think we all would have heard of that fact by now.

I’ve literally never once had this happen to me over multiple phones. I don’t think Firefox uses that much battery.

That’s good to know. One of my phones is a Samsung Galaxy S22 and I suspect something went on with that year - a phone shouldn’t simply get hot in your hands merely while web browsing for a couple of minutes.

Seems to me they have had a strategy since Firefox 4:

1: Move as many users to Chrome as possible.
2: Pull all value out of the company.
    3: Let the remains burn.

@tilvids@mstdn.social Was already clear that they won’t be holding an instance for building an understanding environment, but another boasting outlet. First of all, @mozilla@mozilla.social doesn’t even have ANYTHING to boast about, because they’ve ruined everything there was to ruin.

Browsers based on Gecko Firefox and Chrome Blink

are compromised, ecause both companies updating the main build are either becoming, or are ad companies.

Switching to browser based on Webkit is a good idea for long term privacy.

Such as Apple Safari, or Epiphany.

Midori use to be Webkit based, not anymore, it’s now also using Gecko.
