“People want reliable, truthful reporting. They want access to news outlets they can trust. They would like journalists to operate with a shared commitment to accuracy and independence. The problem journalists and publishers face is that much of the public does not believe that the news media offer this.”

@samlitzinger@journa.host The fault lies with the media itself, but once the mistrust is there, it tends to stick. QED.

@samlitzinger@journa.host Sure, people want reliable, truthful reporting and they want access to news outlets they can trust. But also they don’t want to pay for it. They don’t want ads and they don’t want to subscribe to get around a pay wall. They don’t want to consider how the publishers, editors, reporters, photographers, artists and others all will get paid for this reliable, truthful reporting they want. That’s the big problem.

The cultists don’t want reliable truthful reporting, they just want to hear what supports their prejudices and conspiracies. So there are those in the media who supply that because of money.
