    • Brush: Wald Stratos Goldvein 29mm A1 Fan

    • Razor: Tanifuji Spalding 0411 6/8" Full Hollow

    • Lather: Los Jabones de Joserra - Blas de Lezo - Soap

    • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

    • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Cerberus - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Blas de Lezo is my second soap from Los Jabones de Joserra aka Jose Martinez. Like Noir, which I tried a couple of days ago, the scent of Blas de Lezo becomes much more complex and sophisticated once the soap is wet and fully lathered. The scent has accords of oak wood, smoke, tobacco, leather and liquor. I mean. What’s not to love!

The soap base is low-structure, but very slick. There are several oils in it; including an apricot oil. A very easy lather to use for a straight shaver.

Interestingly, Blas de Lezo is was a Spanish Naval officer who lost an eye, a hand, mobility of one arm, and a leg. He was the real-life Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    • Brush: Maggard 24mm 2 Band Badger
    • Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (I-2)
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Germany) (4)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Oro Valley - Soap
    • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman Special Reserve - Aftershave

Wonderful shave. This knot was relatively inexpensive (I think I actually got it for something like $10 from an artisan who was trying to get rid of some extraneous stuff), but it feels really nice. It doesn’t have any gel, but it’s good and soft while still letting you feel that something is there. I typically prefer the Maggard Silvertip to this one, but it depends on the day.

First shave with my Autumn Glory sample, and I quite enjoyed it. I get notes of wet leaves, apple cider, and wet earth.

As always the lather was great. I still hold that Stirling performs best with a boar brush.

    Have a good one all!

I got this W&B with completely busted scales but otherwise in good condition a couple years ago and fitted it with these pretty Ralf Aust horn scales. Like yesterday’s W&B wedge, this hollow ground has that soft feeling edge. Very nice.
