    • Brush: Captain’s Choice Ocean 24mm Tuxedo

    • Razor: Puma 89 11/16 Full Hollow

    • Lather: Captain’s Choice - Bay Rum - Soap

    • Aftershave: Captain’s Choice - Cat O’ Nine Tails - Aftershave

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

      • I got a Puma 100 last week from the bay. The images were 👀 - flattering, and I was surprized about the state, but the price was low. I have heavy staining on the blade, and I might need to unpeen it. Manual polishing didn’t get me very far, but the integrity of the blade looks ok, as far as I can tell. Affaire à suivre!

It’s actually very difficult to get a good photo of the stains…

Oh, yeah, this looks barely stained in the photos. Nice find! I’m curious how the unpeening will go. With this triple rivet, there’s more opportunity to mess one up learn 😅

              • I’m hesitant: the scales are in excellent shape, and I’ve never unpeened anything. The rivets are very loose though. And I hoped that I could get away with only removing 1 rivet…-

I find the repeening scarier than the unpeening. When I started out, I got myself cheap plastic scales from Maggard to train on and I didn’t regret it.

And I hoped that I could get away with only removing 1 rivet…-

I mean, sure, but don’t you want the three rivets to look the same afterwards?

    • Brush: Zenith - B21 boar
    • Razor: Gilette - Super Speed black tip
    • Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (1)
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Leviathan
    • Post: Nivea - Sensitive Post Shave Balm
    • Post: Stetson - Cooling Moisture AS splash

First shave with this brush and razor (thanks u/EldrormR over on reddit!). The razor was very forgiving and felt nice and mild. The brush is very different from the Omega 10048 that I’ve been using over the last few months. Way less flop, much softer bristles.

I think I’m going to enjoy getting to know these two better.

    Have a great one y’all. ✌️

I have a B2 which is very similar, but a plastic handle covered with aluminum. I really like it.

The B21, B2 etc names are specific to The Gentle Shave who sells them in the US. Pretty smart business move! You can get the same brushes cheaper from Europe, but the B2 for example is really called B03-A26. Good luck remembering and recommending that to friends!

Ah, I didn’t know this. Interesting! And yes, clever marketing move for sure.

I did a bit of looking but couldn’t find a site that compares the Gentle Shave’s model numbers with those assigned by Zenith. Do you happen to know where I can find that info (preferably without learning Italian 😄)?

No such resource exists that I know of. You just have to browse for what looks the same, compare loft, etc.

The B21 that you have might be unique to The Gentle Shave since he talks about some customization.

LPL narcisse sample almost killed as the new BVWSC soap arrived today.

4 shaves with the duplex and the blade has mellowed out to be ok.

    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
    • Razor: Böker – Abalone (6/8", full hollow, carbon steel, French point)
    • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
    • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
    • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

Super smooth shave with the Abalone today. This is really a great razor (if you keep the sharp point in mind). It’s heftier, possibly stiffer, than my other Bökers, but the grind doesn’t seem thicker. Either way, it’s right down my alley.

    • Brush: Semogue 610
    • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
    • Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic (3)
    • Lather: Meissner Tremonia - Woody Almond - Soap
    • Post Shave: Razorock - Puros - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
    • Post Shave: Harry’s - Aftershave Balm
    • Fragrance: Geoffrey Beene - Grey Flannel - EdC

Noticed some pokey hairs so spent a few minutes after the shave sussing them out with a pair of tweezers. We’ll see next time if it made any difference.

I’ve been seeing lots of weather alerts about low humidity creating dangerous fire conditions, so figured I’d use two balm products, one thicker than the other.
