- Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
- Razor: Union Cutlery Spike (5/8", wedge, square point, carbon steel)
- Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
- Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
- Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
For today’s Wedgeday shave, I brought back the little Spike. This wedge is so small that it’s light enough to not have that feeling of inevitability heavier cleavers have. As a result, it has great tactile feedback without the audible feedback of a hollow ground. It’s a fun break from big hollow grounds like a dirt bike is a fun break from a nice car.

- Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (4)
- Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Pomona
- Post: Nivea - Sensitive Post Shave Balm
- Post: Southern Witchcrafts - Pomona AS splash
- Frag: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber EdP
First shave with Pomona gave great results, but I think it gave me a bit of frag burn while it was on my face. I’ve had this happen with a couple other soaps as well (Stirling Barbershop and the bit I tried of PAA Bay Rum before trading it away).
I’m wondering whether my skin my be sensitive to cinnamon or clove? There must be some shared ingredient here that’s contributing.
I plan to give it another shot with Pomona later this week or next since I really enjoy the scent. But unfortunately, this might not ultimately be one for me. :(
Have a great day y’all. ✌️
Frag burn stinks. I don’t think Pomona burned me, but Stirling Barbershop did. I’ve had other scents give me a burn/tingle, but nothing like Stirling Barbershop… that was really bad.
Pomona felt much worse than Barbershop did for me. You’re right though, it’s an unpleasant sensation.
I hope my second shave will give me different results, but it might be wishful thinking. It is a lovely scent though, so I’m pretty bummed.
Luckily there’s no shortage of great soaps to try. :)

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Today is picture perfect in Maryland. Time for Hiatus. This is more of a summer scent, but it fit perfectly for today. The Le Grelot was my first modern razor purchase and it is still a pleasure to use. Excellent weight and balance in this razor.
