Well MGS is my favourite, what’s yours and why?
Here is the full list:
https://www.ign.com/articles/the-100-best-playstation-games-of-all-time
Yea I mean, I grew up on Playstation and mgs was always a solid title. Recently played through 1 and it was such a breath of fresh air compared to modern gaming. Just a fun experience through and through. I’ve been thinking about playing through 2 again, I might do it over my break from work over the holidays.
I gotta mention all the gundam games, dynasty warriors, onimusha, and that’s off of the top of my head. The PS2 really had some great titles through its whole life cycle.
Interesting.
Marvel’s Spider-Man – a franchise which has the distinction of having the best selling games of the last two generations[0] – is notably absent from the list, with only the second instalment ranking at 52nd.
Sell numbers doesn’t say much about the quality of a game. Pokemon game sell a lot as well. But such lists are always very subjective. There is not really a good objective way to rank a top 100 of games. Even at ign, not every of these authors have played every game.
Sell numbers are often seen as indicators for enjoyment and memorability of a game, which is essentially the focus of this listicle:
While we have a strong selection of exclusives, we’ve also included a fair number of multiplatform classics. Our criteria for those is simple: When you think of a game, does a PlayStation banner appear at the top of its box? If so, it qualifies.
I agree the list is subjective, but that is besides my point. Even if the selections are based on mood, feel, or emotion, the original Marvel’s Spider-Man stayed in the cultural zeitgeist for far longer than the one they’ve chosen to highlight.
Anyway, it is just something that stood out to me.
I believe RDR2 is probably number one. Not pissin on ol MGS, but if we are talking dollars to donuts, that’s your best buck spent. IMO.
Great thing about opinions, though, is they are like assholes. Everyone’s got one. My list almost for sure looks different than your list. That’s whats so great about video games, they mean different things to each one of us!
Mgs blew me away so many times, it’s a shame you can’t experience the thing for the first time all over again. Deserved.
