Russia’s Vladimir Putin on Saturday apologised to Azerbaijan’s president for a “tragic incident” which happened in Russian airspace involving an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane that crashed after air defences were used against Ukrainian drones.
“Whoops, we shot down your plane. Whoops, we invaded your country.”
Doesn’t offer anything more than that, though.
“Sorry we shot down an innocent plane, we were busy fighting a war we never should have started and refuse to end”
Actually they haven’t admitted to shooting it down. It was more like:
“Sorry your plane crashed in Russian airspace.”
“Sorry your plane had an, unfortunate accident. Let’s be more careful from now or it would be a shame if you had any more, accidents.”
Thing is, it didn’t even crash in Russian airspace. It crashed over in Kazakhstan. It has a “
malfunction” “unplanned traumatic experience” over Russian airspace.That’s way more on-brand for Putin
