Hi all,

I have a nice cluster of 3 HPE ProLiant DL360p G9 machines. I run Proxmox on them. They’re connected over their on-board 1G NIC.

To speed up communications between the nodes (pve1, pve2, pve3), my idea is to connect them over 10G by buying some 10G NICs and some DAC cables.

Now, there is a lot of choice in 10G cards and they range wildly in pricing. Especially this one I found interesting (HPE FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 556FLR-SFP+ Adapter G9).

But this also gave me some questions

  • What is FlexFabric? Is it some kind of proprietary protocol?
  • Why is it so cheap?
  • Does it work with normal SFP+ DAC cables\

I guess the main question is: will this card + some cheap cables work, or do I need something else?
