The joke “Haha look at all these F**GOTS” and how it’s just so funny that conservatives can be gay.

Speaking as someone who’s LGBT myself, I don’t find this offensive. The joke isn’t that being gay is bad; it’s that homophobes are lying, dishonest hypocrites. Is it racist to tell a white supremacist that their children are going to grow up to marry people of colour? Is it anti-Semitic to note how Göring had a Jewish godfather and how many Nazi leaders protected both full-Jews and Mischlinge who were close to them? Is it transphobic to mock a supposedly “de-trans” grifter for still undergoing hormone replacement therapy in secret? This outrage honestly feels performative to me

The problem with that is that the post doesn’t actually show hypocrisy. those screenshots don’t prove at all that conservatives were using Grindr. I see this a lot, where people use really weak correlations or connections to call people what used to be a common playground insult.

And if they want to be showing hypocrisy, maybe they should show relevant criticisms of the gays? Like, something referencing how Charlie Kirk talked about stoning the gays. And at this point in time, open Republican gays exist, and Charlie Kirk talked about having gay friends, who presumably would show up to memorials.

So if the joke is about homophobes being lying hypocrites, maybe it should show that homophobia, the lies, and actual proof of hypocrisy. Because if it doesn’t, it’s just calling conservatives gay as an insult.

Everyone already knows that conservatives are homophobic though so there’s no need to demonstrate it

Sure, I guess I could concede that, but it’s still really reaching to use that as evidence. I think it’s clear motivated reasoning, they just wanted a reason to call conservatives gay,

Same and this “sacred protected group” thing is also a primarily liberal fetishization of marginalized groups that they use in their media partisan wars against the GOP. Without our participation. Anyone from our group who actively works against us in exchange for personal gain should be outed and exposed. Cishetsplaining over superficial issues like this one is just obnoxious.
