Hi everyone,
I’m new here and don’t have much tech experience beyond following good practices.
About three years ago, I got hacked. Luckily, I didn’t lose much—just some old email passwords and got hit with spam in a few Discord servers. Honestly, I was lucky to catch it in time. I’m pretty careful with passwords and security, so I’m guessing it happened because I downloaded some sketchy torrents.
Since I started working at a new company, I’ve been using my personal laptop for work. Everything is safe now, since I’ve bought a new one before I even started working with them and haven’t touched anything risky since.
But now I’m thinking about using torrents again because streaming options in my country are pretty limited. My plan is to format my old laptop (again), connect it to the TV, and use it only for that—no games, no email logins, nothing else.
Do you think I should take any extra precautions? My only concern is that it’ll be on the same Wi-Fi as my other devices. Not sure if that’s a real risk or not.
