One of the ugliest traits of war is that masses of otherwise decent human beings, predominantly of the same class and age, are ordered to kill each other in the field by individuals of a different class and age sitting comfortably in remote headquarters or sheltered conference rooms. The larger group is by far the younger, more naïve, and more idealistic; its members have much more to lose in their confrontation with a so-called “enemy” than the rarefied élite sending them on their way.

Enemies in the field always have more in common with one another than they do with the élites on either side. One Japanese survivor of Iwo Jima recalled participating in the shooting of an American who fell from a cliff and landed near his position. Inside the fallen Marine’s pocket were pictures of his family, including one of a little boy and another of a baby. And he painfully recollected:

When I saw those pictures it reminded me of my daughter who was just born when I came to Iwo. And tears just came streaming down my face. And then I realized that both the American and Japanese soldiers were all suffering the same kinds of hardships. You know, losing of families and missing our loved ones back home.⁸

We have this orthodox Jewish district in my city which I ride my bike through every morning to go to work. Today some dude was riding in front of me when a Jewish guy in a car drove towards us. These are narrow streets so there was little space.

Anyway the dude on the bike went off against the car, screaming: ‘fucking JEW, fucking UNTERMENSCH’ and I was like: what the actual fuck man.

I caught up to him at a traffick light and asked him: ‘what the fuck did you just say? Untermensch?’ and he started stuttering. I asked him if he knew what we do with Nazi fucks around here and he quickly rode away. Not that I have any idea what I meant with that either but still.

Baffles my mind how you can be so confidently Nazi outside.

Fucking based. The phrasing of “what we do around here” will really fuck with him. It makes it sound like the entire community is anti-fascist and that anyone with 2 brain cells should know that.

Took a massive break from work and organising due to burnout. Couldn’t sleep at all at night. Now I’m back to work and as soon as I get home all I think of is getting going straight to bed.

I can’t help myself but watch conservative slop from youtube like that sam seder vs 20 conservstives video, its so entertaining. One dude claims goverment agencies got tax cuts (yes you read that right) for doing DEI hires lmao.

Also there was a straight up nazi making some actually coherent points like “america should have a coherent culture, we must embrace xenophobic nationalism its in our roots” to which i kinda agree? She is not lying there. I just dislike when Iibs talk about america being a mixture of many different cultures due to immigration and its what makes america great yare yare, the US is host to the worlds petitbourgeoisie and bourgeoisie its not a thing to be proud of.

I always indulge reading comments on online mainstream news in my country. You can always read the most fascist and stupid takes on any given article.

Lmao nazis always readily recognize the US is at its root a genocidal, xenophobic project. The issue is these ghouls think it’s a great thing. They also don’t realize that what stripped them of their “culture” is not immigration but capitalism.

I’m proud to present my new acquisition, a Likebook Mars!

I was originally going to buy one similar to this new from AliExpress but the budget got out of hand so I got this one second hand for like half the price. It’s a rare find tbh, not many 7.8" Android ereaders around

To be honest, it seems to be preaching to the choir about authoritarianism and the nature of an to anti-authoritarianism. Like, as MLs, we know this stuff. It’s not really persuasive or “brave” to say, let’s say, “politicians corrupt” for the millionth time, for example.

One of our party officials in the European Council quit our party and will continue as independent. He gives no reason himself but rumours has it that it is about money. Every one of our officials needs to give a part of their governments wage (which is enormous) back to the party so that they only receive an average wage as to not lose touch with the people. Guess he wanted everything.

I was gifted a big zinc tub for my balcony garden this weekend and I immediately went out to buy some native pollinator plants. I got some figwort, cowslip, ferns, wild garlic and endangered common bluebell. I hope it will work out and that the bees and the beetles and the wasps and the butterflies find their way to it.
