I’m keen to try taking photos with backdrops similar to the one in link:

I’d like to start small at first to see if I like it and not invest too much. I thought I’d try offering my services to my kid’s day care centre as a fundraiser. What is the minimum equipment I would need to do this? Just the backdrop (plus a stand), an SLR camera and a tripod?

Would I need lights if the room is reasonably bright (and if I also use the camera flash)? If I do need additional lights, can anyone recommend a way I can do this on a budget? Please recommend products/brands/hacks.
