minus-squareCurious Mind @lemmy.worldOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·3 days agoBasically I wish to start a lemmy instance of mine own, just like lemmy.world or programming.dev is.
minus-squareKissaki@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·2 days agoStart as in developing or as in hosting? You’re asking in a community called devs, implying you want to develop, but it seems like you want to only host?
minus-squaremark@programming.devlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoWhy dont people understand? They want it from the scratch!!
minus-squareCurious Mind @lemmy.worldOPlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoNot simply host, develop an instance right from the scratch !!
minus-squareZachariah@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up2·3 days agoIf you don’t want the hassle of self-hosting, managed hosting is another option. Here’s one example host to compare to: https://www.knthost.com/lemmy $11.25/mo. No idea if they’re any good.
minus-squareFelixCress@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·edit-22 days ago200gb is not a lot, is it? I am curious how it works/counts - is it only own contents, created on the new instance or also data received from other instances?
minus-squareZachariah@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoFor a single user it could be enough. It depends mostly on how many images they want to post. discussion: https://lemmy.world/post/838658
minus-squareFelixCress@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoDo you mean 200gb is per user? Not for the entire instance?
minus-squareZachariah@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoIf it’s a single-user instance, that’s the same number.
minus-squareFelixCress@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoDo you mean that this linked hosting is for a single user instance? I didn’t realise that.
minus-squareZachariah@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 days agoIt seemed like the OP wanted their own instance for themselves. Now that I look back, I realize they may have wanted other users, too.
