I understand that there are aspects of culture that needed explaining but the real question is, did she make a proactive effort instead of relying all the time?

My Caucasian sister is marrying into an Indian family and she’s genuinely enthusiastic and excited to celebrate these traditions with his family. It’s sad to see Kimberly acting this way.

He probably didn’t keep your sister in the dark about it though. I’m not really sure why people think it’s strange to want to understand her own wedding. I think O would be curious too.

I don’t think anyone really thinks it’s strange, just not the best way to approach coming into a new family complaining and unable to enjoy the day.

It’s kind of hard to enjoy what should be the happiest day of your life when no one around you is telling you what’s happening and pretty much just doing things to you all day. People act like she’s just entitled and stuck up when really she doesn’t speak the language, and just has to sit there and smile during hours of ceremony

I don’t feel pity for her. Glad someone does. We have access to a vast amount of information on how Indian cultures marry, and girl decided reading tarot and her intuition was best.

That’s true. His family has been extremely open and didn’t really “tell” her what’s going to happen, they wanted her input too. So I can see where Kimberly is coming from from that POV. It’s maybe completely different than what she imagined her wedding would be and she can’t even understand what’s happening on what’s supposed to be the happiest day of her life :/ I’d be upset too.
