Obama choose to release (and re-release and re-re-release) his certificate because he was constantly fighting a crisis of legitimacy. He did it out of weakness, because he was afraid what people would undermine him through doubt.
Trump is very obviously a pedophile and even more obviously does not give a shit that you know it. He’s not giving you anything, because he does not feel the need to legitimize himself to the public.
Also despite him releasing all birth documentation that proved beyond all doubt that he was born in the US, had an American born mother, and everything… and then they photoshopped his certificates and acted like those were the released documents and mocked him.

I don’t think he has said it, but he did talk about Trumps actions are trying to distract from it.
For sure the people involved include donors to both parties, and yes, silence is complicity.
The only slightly mitigating element in Obama’s case is that his whole vibe always has been to stay above political mudslinging, which is what a significant amount of the debacle is really about, despite what some high-minded people will insist. Releasing the files isn’t the same thing as prosecuting the perpetrators.
