A lil context for why I get so worked up about it more than most. My grandma lived in East Poland(current day Belarus) and when Nazis came, my grandma’s family fled east while her father fought. Long story short, the kids(grandma and siblings) were the ones that survived and were split up across the globe. That’s the Super streamlined version. So when Bill Maher says “oh I didn’t like Nazis either but you can’t punch someone who’s not doing anything” I want to punch HIM too. The implicit support is a lesson to learn from. Also why didn’t the US kill the last Nazi collaborator living in Queens,NY instead of deportation? Watch the part where Chuck Schumer explains the deportation if you wanna cringe. https://youtu.be/nW8sC9JA2Is https://youtu.be/KzW8NYeQbo4 These are the 2 vids that inspired this. I think the main reason people should workout is so that when they punch a Nazi, they don’t get back up.TL;DR: My grandma was affected by Nazis, now libs are “tolerant” of them.

Plus you don’t see them defending socialists with the same fervor, or anybody else not in a protected class for that matter. How many libs were advocating for violence against Russians, how many will for Chinese? But I guess apparently nazis are among the protected class for lib civility, curious

Pretty disturbing, the same liberals who are regularly clamouring for extermination/enslavement of Russians/Chinese (under the usual bullshit terminology of “freedom and democracy”) likely also advocate for engaging nazis “in the marketplace of ideas”…

You cam argue that depending on context you may talk to them to letting it go (I did, I could make some children think about it and they really stopped being fascists, don’t know how much time, but at least something), but liberals will never understand context and how counter measures work… Unless it is for their own benefit.

Yes this is definitely true, although this is just against kids that don’t know the second thing about fascism and what they support. Against people further down the rabbit hole that generally believe this, you must be much more careful and it is a much longer process. With any fascist there’s also the risk of them reverting and damaging the left community.

That’s what scares me. I don’t like Nazis and I’d love for them to be informed and learn what is really going on. But that leaves us with ex-fascists that we can only HOPE will treat Jewish or Trans/POC/LGBQ+/Feminist comrades with basic decency, but given their background, I wouldn’t blame those comrades for being at least a bit uncomfortable around them. Lord knows if I was Jewish and heard someone I knew was a nazi, it would change my opinion of them.

You shouldn’t punch them tho. Kicking them probably does more damage and will not damage your hands. Metal pipes work well too.

I feel you. I have family I never met because during Spanish Civil War, they were killed by NationalCatholics, being the Church one of the principal instigators against communism, anarchism, and even atheism or minimal worker’s rights.

The ones that were older were even sent to concentration camps were Franco sent people to please Hitler as collaborators, while the Spanish right claims that Franco “remained neutral”.

And I have to hear that I must not hate neither the right nor Catholicism because “that’s authoritarian” or its “bigotry against Christianity” and similar nonsense.

The only reason not to punch a fucking nazi is because they could harm you or the police work hand in hand and will know who you are and where you live or something. If you know you won’t have this repercussions or simply don’t give a fuck, kicking their ass is the moral thing to do, and liberals can suck your ass.

And of course, when was the last time you heard a liberal say that “punching tankies is bad”? Because I NEVER heard them claiming that we also have free speech and all that nonsense they cry when a Nazi gets what it deserves.

It’s disgusting to hear what the church and Francisco Franco did to your loved ones, I understand how awful and painful it can be to evn think of. A lot of Irish lefties I know use the church as a proxy for being anti-English and it’s upsetting. Ultimately the Catholic Church will use its wealth to fuck up labor movements or to pay for Pedos to transfer to a new parish. I gotta make it clear that I’m not anti-Catholic towards people I know and meet. It’s a religion, I’m personally atheist but I’ve grown apart from the Reddit atheist type I was before(All religions bad and DuMb) bc frankly idc what religious folks do, as long as it isn’t hateful. But the institution of the Church is sinful and needs to be seen as the bourgeois interest group that it is, separate from the religious beliefs that loved ones of mine hold to be true

Edit: just to be understood. I’m not claiming that believers deserve the wall de facto, and I even know that the first victims of religion and who face the class struggle, are precisely the believers the same way people living in the imperial core are victims too.

I’m sorry, but those believes aren’t separated from protecting the same church. The problem with religion is that they are ideologies, and those ideologies have the first primal indoctrination that affects even to non believers, that is that the institution must be protected at all cost, even from itself, in a really very simmilar way that capitalism has socdems and fascists. They are very different in the outside, but they have the same purpose.

And another thing, is that the institution isn’t bourgeois, it’s theocracist.

Right now is in bed with the bourgeoisie because the later is what it has power. Historically, the church was in bed always with the system and power that was dominant and at the same time, struggling to attain absolute power, being in an friendship/rivalry the same way today the nobility and aristocracy is in bed with the bourgeoisie.

BTW, I don’t know what a “reddit atheist” is, but it sounds to me like “the good socialist is never “radical””, “the good feminist is the one that doesn’t accuse men for everything”, “the good union is the one that allways collaborate with the boss”, “the good atheist never speaks the harms of religion”. Can’t you see the pattern, comrade?

Nah, I don’t fuck with Reddit atheists at all. Not all atheists, I am one, but I don’t make it a personality and I don’t call religious people backwards. They are the type who look down on religious people. They make fun of Islamic, Christian and Jewish beliefs and practices. They loved(not as much these days) posting jokes about Hindu beliefs and calling them stupid for not being enlightened or something. They are hostile especially towards Muslims, the r/atheism sub is full of “take off the hijab” type shit and “look at how these people waste their weekends/waste their life praying”.
