Hello Audiophiles,
I’ve been recently looking for some gear to install in my extended dining room / kitchen (45 sq meters approx) to play (this is important) background music from different sources (through an amp) when I’m moving around doing the house chores. Oh, and I’d like to have them hangin from the ceiling / wall.
At this in point in time I’m focused on the speakers, but the end goal set up will look like:
-
3 sets of speakers (living room, kitchen and garden)
-
Smart Speaker Switch to chose with speakers will be playing music
-
Amp
I went yesterday to share my ideas with my local hi-fi store and a wonderful and knowledgeable lady suggested my ideas where rubish (with regards to speakers choice and positioning in the room among other things.
She suggested I explore the (new to me) concept of Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) speakers, that cast the sound in a wider (even sometimes up to 360 degrees) and mentioned Sonos Era as a good candidate. I’ve also found that Cambridge Audio Cambridge audio minx min 22.
After weeks of research about in-ceiling / Stereo / Mono speakers (i.e. B&W CCM663 and 663SR) I’m back to square on.
Help please!!
!thanks very much in advance
TL;DR
Are several new Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) the best option for background music while moving around the house? if so, what’s the best way to position them? Finally, Any experience with Sonos Era and Cambridge Audio Minx Min 22?
