Hi everyone!

I am moving soon to a new apartment and will finally have an actual living room so I decided I want to have a home theater setup (and go beyond 5.1 that I have now).

Pic below contains the plan of said room. It shows a sliding divider in the middle, which I am going to dismantle. To my pleasant surprise, a local DIY store currently has sound-absorbing wood slat panels on sale so I think I am going to buy some.

Existing layout

Now the question: do I necessarily have to cover the entire wall surface with those panels? Because even with the discount, that will encroach the ‘expensive’ territory for me (I’d need at least 21 pcs to do that). I was also thinking of playing on the contrast between, say, dark grey wall paint and the color of the panels.

Thanks for all of your inputs!
