Got a subscription today because Silo looks like it’s right down my alley. 2 hours later the excitement is gone because I can’t get it running on my TV.
I use Chromecast to watch stuff on my TV. I have an older Android smartphone and an older MacBook with Mojave. Both devices don’t support the app. Streaming in browser on my Mac works but it doesn’t have a proper Chromecast function, I can only mirror the tab and the quality is horrendous.
I’m not an Apple fan and this cemented my disdain for this company. All they care about is selling their overpriced devices. What’s the point of having a streaming service when you’re not willing to make it universally available?!
Rant over.
“Not willing to make it universally available”…?
Here’s a link listing the literal hundreds of devices that support the Apple TV app. I’d recommend checking supported devices next time before signing up for a service and make sure you have one.

And here’s a link on how to cast Apple TV content from the Chrome browser.

If after reading all of this, and you actually get to experience the service, and you still don’t like it, maybe then you can come and complain about how bad the streaming service is. But until then, making a “wOrSt sTrEaMiNg sErViCe” post because you can’t figure out how it works isn’t going to bode well.
hook up your macbook via hdmi to the TV?
The service runs fine on a $20 Android TV device, Fire Stick or Roku. You are using a ChromeCast that’s most likely fairly old at this point. The Apple TV app also works fine on the ChromeCast with Google TV. There is no need to use an “over priced” Apple device you do need a modern device though.
The service I had so much really good content that I was decided to pay for it after just two weeks into the 3months free trial.
I have yet to watch a series or movie that is below average. I just watched Greyhound and it’s a very good movie. I have watch two tv shows and I am now into my 3rd and 4th (“See” and Servant) and they are very good (See) and good (Servant). I am interested in Foundation, Silo and Invasion. Not to mention Killers of the Flower Moon that I am waiting by the minute.
They don’t have as much content as older services as HBO or even Netflix but right now I can tell they are curating their content magnificently.
I am now about to watch Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth with Denzel and Frances McDormand. It is going to be hard to not keep the subscription.
Get a streamer. The Apple TV is great but I also love the Fire Cube and it is best suited for those “not fans” of Apple.
5 minutes in and the Apple fanboy energy is already strong in here
