the Latin American genocide is pan American and primarily targets people who are descended from the people who were already here prior to Europan contact. what’s more is every genocide against anyone is interconnected. no genocide occurs in isolation. the more mass violence we tolerate, the closer the mass violence gets to us. indifference towards Israel’s genocide of the palestinian people, indifference towards African genocides in the Congo, Sudan, and Sahara, indifference towards genocides in southeast asia, indifference towards China’s policy of extermination against the Uiygher people, indifference towards Russia’s treatment of steppe peoples, siberians, and Ukrainians signals to the governments and corporations in the Americas that they can ramp up their evil acts. and it’s all been ramping up for 80 years. every nation made a big deal of how they would never allow another holocaust to occur, and then turned around and began engaging in fucked shit basically immediately.
and it’s not that no one was talking about it. it’s that no one was listening. protests against these outrages have been a part of our lives for as long as anyone alive can remember, but far too many people adopt an attitude that if it doesn’t affect them, it’s not their place to stand up and speak
Billionaires didn’t put Trump in charge for shits and giggles. It’s not fun for them either to have a senile narcissist on the nuclear button pushing out AI-generated tariff policies.
People are listening more and more, and the rich and powerful have been forced to employ increasingly toxic strategies to force people in line. Gone are the days that a “reasonable” president could have Malcolm X murdered, now you need an insane fascist to do what used to be plainly written moderate-left policy. Fascist chemotherapy as a desperate last resort to flush out the metastisized woke cancer.
Maybe they can flush us out. It worked a century ago in Italy, Spain, Germany, and Japan. But they are running out of tools in their arsenal.
Also, I don’t see much of a ramp up in the US’ evil: Jim Crow Laws and Operation Condor seem worse than what is going on in 2025. It’s just that now they have to be fascist to go through with it so it looks and is more dangerous to a white person.
i wholeheartedly agree. my concern is that while the societies that fascism is employed against are getting more and more progressive every cycle, but the fascism itself has been getting deadlier each cycle. but i’m hopeful that enough people who see the world for what it is will coagulate and give these fascist fucks the business. we have the blueprint. we just gotta look to our neighbors across the word. when we do we see them hoisting the jolly roger, donning the straw cap, and telling their opressors to fuck right the fuck off.
