Leaky defense and the usual rigid structure that we have with our starting 11 was lost. Spurs players were easily dispossessed, there were many miss passes and we could not properly build.
That squad depth is the reason. It’s going to take more windows for Spurs to become serious title contenders imo (though most of us were only dreaming at best, not expecting to really charge). Long overdue rebuild that should have begun 4 years ago.
Deadwood defense consisting of Dier and Davies may turn out to be the end of this club for this season. Ange can’t trust these players with his tactics. You may say “the old Tottenham is back”, well guess who are the old Tottenham lol!
Wolves deserved the win. They played better than us for the most part.
Wouldn’t put Davies in the same deadwood category as Dier. Not stellar but steady.
You were close to midtable for xGA, your defence before the injuries wasn’t as great as Spurs fans seem to think. Vicario being the best keeper in the league this season sort of helps.
Wolves had so many open looks and just missed the goal. We’re lucky it was only 2-1
Royale, Dier, Davies in the back 4… not entirely surprising
You mean exposed spurs for being spurs
Ange needs funds to build depth, Levy refuses to put his hand in his pocket, they fall out, Ange leaves, start again…
Son looked absolutely lost today. Went missing for nearly the whole game, just popping up every now and then to win the occasional free kick and put in 1 solid tackle right before the winner. really poor game from the captain, and a lot of the other players matched his impact.
It just shows Tottenham being Tottenham
It’s ok, they are telling me they will still win the league.
Damn what a terrible way to lose
The other big problem is Maddison out - zero creativity and no service to Son without him. He’s arguably been the best attacking midfielder in the league so far - he’s been carrying the Spurs attack.
Squad depth is their biggest problem along with no creative players when Maddison is not there
No depth. Getting to that point in the season.
That’s what happens you lose a few good players and things fall apart, it happened to Arsenal last year that’s why Arteta has changed the style of play so much so players aren’t missed as much.
3/4 of spurs starting defenders out
We’ve been screwed by injuries and lack of depth but really, we are just reverting to our true league position, which was always going to happen.
We have massively over-performed this season. You can see it with your own eyes, but it’s also borne out in xG for and against.
No-one in our support ever really believed we’d challenge for the title (and the Chelsea game showed very well why the team are not quite ready for that yet, with the way they lost their heads)
