If this means increasing the car free/limited areas in the CBD then I’m all for it!
Glad to see Sydney prioritising people over cars in the city yet again, glad that they’ve been going down that path since the light rail opened and took cars off George st
Look, I get it. And I enjoy eating outdoors when the weather is perfect.
But I will never eat outdoors, roadside, with cars zooming past and trucks roaring by. Or even lots of foot traffic. You can’t hear anyone you are eating with, and I have never ordered a meal with extra exhaust or vape or whatever.
Though can you hear anyone inside? Often I find it’s louder inside because of the background music. I imagine this is also a welcome development for dog owners, as some places only allow dogs in the outdoor seating areas.
Agreed! Personally it’s always baffled me that we haven’t had more alfresco dining areas on the light rail line through the CBD! The lack of cars makes it such a nice route to walk when I’m in the city and even the delivery riders seem to stick to the light rail track keeping them out of pedestrian areas!
Hopefully this new policy helps make the CBD even more lively!
That’s a great idea. There’s probably other quiet streets where the occaisonal car wouldn’t be too bad as well.
