He broke the premier league scoring record in his first season, he won city their first ucl. Won the treble. He has 13 goals in 12 games this season. Excluding ballondor and that, how can ANYONE not drool for Haalands goalscoring ability. This is coming from a Liverpool fan that cant believe the standard of talk around this player.

Is he that good? he barely scores against really good teams… Look at Real Madrid or Inter. Not even a single shoot on goal. Same in Wolfes game… he can create, he only sits and waits for ball. He is far from the best still…

I think he’s been good but he’s playing for a stacked team that most likely cheats so it’s hard to go insane over him. What he’s doing is basically living up to the expectations. He needs to do much more for it to be insane.

Most disrespected player of all time. The simple fact is that no striker/player has EVER had a better PL season than Haaland. If he played for Liverpool or Man United then he’d be praised as better than Ronaldo/Messi.

I think people always rate artists over smashers.

Haaland is a smasher. He is big, physical, a freak of nature with perfect physical attributes combined with skill.

Messi is an artist. He sees everything and with a smooth touch creates that perfect pass that no one saw before. The pitch is his canvas.

People always rate artists, me included, more. And as people have already mentioned, he plays for City so a lot of his contribution will be shadowed by that. It will look like he does nothing whole game and then scores couple thanks to artist like De Bruyne passing it perfectly to him.

People will always love artists more.

Honestly probably a bit of hate. A bit of he was and is on a stacked team.

Main issue is a lot of fans think Man City is corrupt and succeeding partially due to oil money/breaking rules.

Personally for me I saw a stat that most of his goals are within the box, not as sexy as those screamers beyond the 18 or curved shots… idk

In short something about the guy makes me dislike him and I really dislike his team.

By all accounts (stats) he is amazing and his coach and team mates are amazing.

Footy is not all about goals, that’s why I’d still take Zidane, iniesta, Ronaldinho, etc over haaland. Hell, I’d take Ben arfa over haaland just for his nutmeg compilations

Because he’s Norwegian. If he declared for England, which he could’ve, he’d be the biggest footballer after Messi.

Add PSG to that list as well.

They had some great players over the years, but I don’t like just buying them for fun or giving them millions just because you can.

Mbappe is one of the best footballers right now, but I also feel he’s underrated. Oh, and you should read back the comments after giving Messi the best player award (again). I think it’s time for new stars, or journalists if they keep voting for the same player.

Yawn. I have no idea why so many people like you act like City are the only team to spend loads of money on players in the last few years

Maybe others disagree, but I think him being part of this City team dampens his achievements somewhat. He’s definitely a freak of nature, but I think Kane would be scoring more in this team.

Erling was 22 in a new country in a new league on a new team v 29yo Harry, yes playing w 8th place Spurs but in a league & on a team & w teammates he played with for years.

Would Harry have scored more if he had moved to ManCity? I personally don’t think so, and also respect that you do.

But to me, both are amazing - I prefer to appreciate their individual unique qualities!

    Nah I agree.

There’s this growing narrative of “yeah he scores a lot, BUT…” or that he isn’t a good team player, or that Kane could do his job at city better, just lots of hot takes around this player rn.

Personally as an Arsenal fan whose been watching over a decade, he’s the best I’ve ever seen.

The amount he can do with only 3 or 4 touches in a game is wild. Every team knows exactly how to defend him, and most can’t. If you go back to his Dortmund days even, when he was like 19, kid was scoring for fun. His career average is a goal a game, which blows the best of the best away. Not even Messi can touch that Stat.

So, he’s like a good 5 or 6 years off from his prime, and given his stature I’d have to guess his prime will come even later, like 8-9 years. So he’s already the best we’ve ever seen, and he has years and years to improve. Besides his goalscoring record, he’s won trophies that some of the greats never managed to. Very few have ever won a treble, on top of all that.

The people that minimize what he’s done and is doing, I feel like just don’t watch him play. They see the highlights, and they go by narratives. But if you asked them if they’d prefer their team’s striker or Haaland, you know what they’d choose.

He broke the epl scoring record. but he doesn’t assist! Le incomplete striker!

His holdup play is excellent. B-But he’s not a playmaker!

He won the treble, broke the hattrick record, broke the scoring record, and averaged a goal a game. BUT IT WAS WITH CITY, LETS SEE HIM DO IT WITH LUTON TOWN

Like, you fucking idiots. He would do it with Luton town. That’s what you’re not grasping lol

I don’t know what you want people to do? It’s a given he is the best out and out striker right now. Great. He plays for city great. They win with our without him. Great. Boring. Next.

There’s no soul in the city team. There’s no passion in haalands game. It’s robotic player in a well oiled machine that is city. Pun intended.
