Arsenal gave a tough battle until the final rounds last season but the luck just slipped away for them. Do you think this season will be the same and Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham will fight until the very last rounds? Or Man City will clearly win it? Do you see somebody else besides Man City winning it this year?

It’s man city until another team actually wins it. Arsenal didn’t bottle the title last year they were never going to win it. City are a win machine

Arsenal and Liverpool are definitely in with a shout, but the margin for error is so small that you really need to push on while city aren’t yet in juggernaut mode.

And that margin of errors is already crossed (Liverpool draw against Luton, Arsenal draw against 10 man Fulham). The 1 time City didn’t win the league in recent years, Liverpool won like 26 out of 27. That’s the level needed.

I think this city team is not quite at the level of the last few years. And they’ve dropped some points that their super-teams would not have – the draw to Chelsea being the most recent example.

Look, City is almost always the best team in the League. But people have developed a superstition about them that I think is unhealthy.

Last year they drew to Lampard Everton. Fucking Lampard. And they won Treble. They also lost to Brentford at home for some reason, their form against top 6 teams was okay at best, losing to united, Spurs, Liverpool. And they won treble, ended up season on 89 and only reason they didn’t have 95 points was because they gave up last 3 games when they already won. And the same stuff people said
“Uh, they don’t look that good as City of past season”. To suddenly have thier best season ever, lol. 98 points season when liverpool had 97 they had weird results like losing at home to Crystal Palace.

Liverpool didn’t need to win that many, though. City were majorly off the pace and Liverpool won at a canter.

If Liverpool were more inconsistent then City would have won more games, I genuinely think that. Around the second half of the season City lost some silly games and they only lost because they thought the title was gone.

Lol no, a draw against luton means nothing of the sort. If we have a few more then yeah, but that 1 match isn’t indicative of anything.

Exactly it’s about dropped points over the entire season, not even necessarily against teams lower down the league. 18/19 the slump going into the new year was what cost us, draws against Everton and man utd, it wasn’t really the results before new year.

City aren’t as good now as they were then. Kyle Walker went into the season hoping to blitz the season, and they’ve been OK by their standards, but not at their best. Liverpool could afford that result, it’s still early doors, the results that really matter are from December onwards. What will cost Liverpool will be lack of a proper DM, I just don’t think Arsenal are in serious contention, they just aren’t as good, seriously over performed last season, and I don’t think the new players necessarily close that gap.

I agree, you need to be at least 15 points clear of them at the start of March, otherwise they sense the smell of blood and will win like 15 games in a row. 😂

You also need to remember the FA, refs and media seem to give City the advantage so the rest need to deal with those as well. It seemed like other teams would rather City win it than other top clubs too. Look at how ManUtd, Chelsea and Spurs fans were supporting City when Liverpool and Arsenal were challenging for the title. Even WestHam prefered Rice to sign for ManCity rather than Arsenal.

I’d rather City win it comfortably than to lose out on the title by a point. I can’t take a third time.

I get it but I disagree. As agonising as the disappointment is, the thrill and enjoyment of a neck and neck battle shouldn’t be discounted. Especially when we’re playing with an uneven deck.

It’s a shame we get so fixated on the result. Yes, I’m obviously desperate to win but if you don’t enjoy the journey why even bother? When we came within 2 games of the quadruple, would it have been better to have a mediocre season?

If City win it I’m not sure if I want them to win by 1 point because of that one Liverpool game. Would hurt more than that goal line clearance from couple seasons ago

City will win it, plus they’ll win it for the next five years.

They’ve already got the best players, plus even if they don’t they can afford to buy the best. Other teams only have the illusion of winning. Arsenal and Liverpool are top, top sides but lack the 1% difference to get over the line.

Pains me to say it, but they’re playing on easy mode at the minute. As a United fan I can’t see us winning the title for at least 5-10 years.

I’m not enjoying City dominating as much as the next guy. There’s just an inevitability about them winning as a team right now.

Depends if Guardiola is there the next 5 years otherwise there’ll be a drop off. Quite a few of the core group are already a bit older and struggling to keep up physically with de Bruyne at the point of being a part timer now.

John Stones has been out a large portion of the season and KDB is yet to return. What City actually look like and how they’ll attack the league won’t be fully known until after Christmas. The next few games will be interesting.

Think ultimately it comes down to squad depth. City have a depth of squad that other teams literally cannot afford. In a 38 game season, with other competitions to play in, that depth is what decides titles. City are absolutely favorites due to that fact, but I think only Arsenal have a depth that could match them (and that’s still a long shot).
