The team that wins the throw in should have an advantage but is actually at a disadvantage in many cases as they have one less player to fight for the ball after the throw in. This constantly slows the game down.
There’s no offside rule from throwins.
Tony Pulis and Rory Delap downvote this.
The point is to get the ball back into play I think.
When it’s kicked into the stands, the fans should be able to throw it back in. With the lucky fan trying to get it back to his own team. Rival fans may try to wrestle the ball away first and throw it to their player instead. If the ball doesn’t return to the pitch in 10 seconds, all of the seats in the stadium become electrified until it does.
If you don’t work for FIFA already, you should.
By that logic what’s the point of free kicks if you have one less player to attack the ball? 😂
The point is to have the vision and execution to get it to a team mate in space who will progress the ball.
🤣
Haven’t played much, have you? Throw in is a set piece
CoRnErs ArE UnFaIr…
The throw in taker gets to decide where it goes, that’s an advantage, they can go short or extra long if they have a delap regen
This post is hilarious.
OP is a Liverpool fan. Liverpool were the first team in the Premier League to hire a throw-in coach (Thomas Gronnemark) and he worked at Anfield for 5 seasons until being let go over the summer.
But now throw ins are pointless?
This post makes no sense, of course it’s an advantage. You must be American, no offence but that logic hd to be from across the pond.
I’ll see a post like this and just whisper to myself “please don’t be American” but it usually is.
Sorry. We didn’t mean to let him out.
We should have managers do the throw ins then
Ah, you beat me to it by 16 hours
Embarrassing take, it’s up to you how you take advantage of a throw in. Possession is retained, there’s the added benefit of you can’t be offside from a throw in, and it free’s up space to be exploited on the opposite side. If you have a long throw specialist you can get the ball in the box and cause chaos without needing a corner or free kick.
At one team I played we were super cynical two seasons in a row with one coach. If we ever felt like it was a risk to pass the ball we would just hit it out for a throw in as close as possible to the opponents corner flag. Our press was intense and it often was easier to create chances from their throw in then by our own (shitty passing). Those two seasons we conceded 16 and 10 goals in a 22 matches league. Throw ins for sure be a disadvantage, if close to own goal.
The quality of posts here has taken a severe knock recently.
Showing your ignorance imo

Yes it’s utter shit here, but this post is not why.
This sub has had some of the worst takes over the last 24 hours. What the hell.
They do have an advantage in that you cannot be offside from your own teams throw-in, but not many teams seem to make use of it.
