Sorry if this is a dumb post, but I don’t know an insane amount about CPUs and GPUs. I know how PCs work and can put them together, but thats about it.
I went on to use their bottleneck calculator for the 7800X3d and the 4080. I heard these two would work wonders together, since the 7800X3D is one of, if not the best CPU for pure gaming right now.
At 2k resolution, with GPU intensive tasks, there was a 10% bottleneck.
At 2k resolution, with CPU intensive tasks, there was a 42% bottleneck.
For both of these outcomes it says my CPU is too weak.
If I up the resolution to 4k, the bottleneck goes away for GPU intensive tasks, and drops to 30% for CPU intensive tasks.
Am I screwed if I just want to play at 2k? I have no interest in 4k, and the monitors cost a lot more. I already have two $300+ 2k monitors.
Is this calculator just wack and I’m overreacting? I want to be sure before I drop all this money on a new rig. Again, sorry if this is a really dumb question.
