Yeah I mean Pixel 8 Pro had the Samsung E7 display which was brighter and more efficient.
The problem with efficiency is that it doesn’t always translate to massive power savings. Most component manufacturers and phone makers translate those power savings into brighter screens. So if you ran the Pixel 8 Pro at a max of 1000-1100 nits like the iPhone, it would be incredibly efficient. The problem is they put those savings into pushing the display to 1500 nits. At those max power settings you end up consuming roughly just as much power as before.
I do think this past 2 years of displays was some sort of megapixel/nits war. The Pixel 7 Pro used the same old E4 OLED and pushed higher brightness at a huge expense of power consumption. The iPhone has been going year by year increases in brightness (thankfully Apple usually uses the latest display tech). The Pixel 8 Pro was really a star and its 2000 nits peak brightness is insane in outdoor conditions. OnePlus is out their touting their foldable with 2800 nits and promises more with the next gen of BOE display tech.
Like at some point does it really matter how much more we get? A solid 1200 nits display that sips 2W power is probably far more beneficial than a 2500 nits 10W monster.
Wow the next iPhone will use a better, more efficient display! 😱
End Game phone!!1!
Whatever come to iPhone display I hope it was worth it
I’ll have to wait for the iPhone 20 for my next upgrade
Just like the schedule for OLED display on handheld gaming: PS Vita 2011 Switch OLED 2021
iPhone XX you mean. 19 will be skipped like the 9
Me who recently bought iPhone 15 pro max : Okay 👍 😊
I came from the 11 normal to 15 Pro Max, such an upgrade, I couldn’t care less what the 16 is I’m happy with what I got
I got there from regular 12 so I understand but these rumours just hurt sometimes 😂
Tim: “Our best iPhone ever”
Technically they’re not lying.
And we think you’re going to love it!
Imagine Tim made an iPhone “it’s marginally worse than last years model, but that’s okay, we think you’ll sort of like it”
If they make it cheaper, I say go for it
Every year lol
But it’s true!
„Good Morning 👱🏻♂️🍏“
Iphone next, will have make shit up inside.
Why not QD OLED like on their TVs? Any particular reason for that?
Im waiting for the day when apple releases their best ever iPhone, where they took a brave decision to remove the screen to improve the battery life and buy it as an add-on for just 299$ for the 1080p 60fps and the 699$ for the 1440p “Pro” variant. The battery life has a massive 8% improvement.
I’m included to assume they will make the battery smaller like they have been doing. 1 year it is slightly increased and the following year it is slightly decreased when some other hardware becomes more efficient. And the cycle seems to have repeated since the XS Max I believe. Only talking about the pattern I noticed in the largest iPhone models over the years.
they will make the battery smaller like they have been doing
Actually, with very few exceptions, Apple has steadily increased battery size over the years:

I’ll upgrade when they add promotion to base models
by that time the base would cost 999 bucks anyways
I’ll upgrade when the PWM of the display doesn’t fry my eyeballs 😵💫
What?
Is that a confusing way to say refresh rate? Or are you talking a about brightness, that‘s probably controlled with a pwm signal?
If it‘s the latter I‘m sorry to tell you apple won‘t release dimmer phones in the future. But you can always dim the brightness to levels that do not ‚fry your eyes‘.

I still think the 13 pro max is their best model honestly.
Doesn’t have any weird battery issues. Has the promotion oled, doesn’t have the stupid dynamic island. Don’t love the notch and I DO notice it in certain games. Dual esim and sim card. Has lightning/wireless charging. I have about 50 lightning cables and only time I use one is my 2 foot anker for apple car play.
13 pro and pro max screen have a tendency to fail by going all white or all green
No more or less than any other one. 13 pro max was literally the most successful launch they’ve had.
I have the 13 Pro and think the Dynamic Island looks massive on other people’s phones. I have dark mode turned on always and the notch blends in most of the time
Even as someone in the upgrade program I think I agree. I do kinda appreciate USB-C since I have a newer iPad, but otherwise there’s very little perceivable upgrades I’ve gotten going from a 13 to a 14 or 15. The screen is great on all of them, the performance is great on all of them, the cameras are great on all of them.
there’s very little perceivable upgrades
It’s almost like upgrading annually made even some sense like 6+ years ago
How tim cook feels after introducing 1 single new button in the new phone and saying it’s the best iphone yet:
The next iPhone might have some improvements over the current iPhone? Shocking development!
