IF the 5700x3D has 65w TDP (I know, I know that means 88watts) that would be pretty neat and an instant buy from me.
why not just get a 5800x3d and limit it manually? i cant imagine the 5700x3d will be that much cheaper anyway.
I’m not too keen on relying on PBO2-Tuner (software). And so far it has been next to impossible (work in progress) to find out if my motherboard actually supports curve optimizer for this specific CPU in bios.

Probably yes. But if the 5700x3D is a 65w tdp part having a working curve optimizer is less paramount.
You can just lower PPT TDC EDC if nothing else, you’ll get better boost on a 5800x3d that way.
Curve optimizer is there to reduce heat and increase boost, but if you buy a 5700x3d you seem to lose a lot of boost, so even a shittily tuned 5800x3d should stay at 4.1ghz all core without much headache.
Would be nice if AMD restocks ITX AM4 boards since most of them are OOS or no longer stocked
they quit selling the asus b550-i because it doesnt work correctly with rtx4000 series and i think the aorus b550i has issues with usb drop outs.
In 20 years of self-built PCs I don’t think I’ve ever managed to find a motherboard that didn’t have some kind of fucked up USB issue.
My Aorus B550i no longer experience USB issues with F17 BIOS. Though Gigabyte do multiple revisions on the same board so not all revisions are guaranteed to be safe from this issue.
OP, while your thoughts hold logic and are most likely correct with regards to a price stop gap: the delivery method in which you go about informing others is as you put it: npc tier.
This is the internet where not everyone is aware of or cares about the business side of things at all. There may be a better suited sub to discuss this matter in, with users that are more inclined to this part of the industry.

6c stacks are not a defect, there is no stacking failure that leaves you with only one dead core but a working chip. 6c stack are specifically only stacked for 5600x3d, there was never a 6c stack used in epyc, people are just too dumb to actually look at and interpret the facts themselves if it contradicts an authority figure lmao
the 5600x3d specifically exists as an artificial backstop to prevent 5800X3D prices from continuing to slide, and that has been obvious from day-1 despite the supposed “limited” nature of the SKU, but gosh, steve said the microcenter sales rep said, it was a yield sku, who am I to contradict a salesman???
and again, that’s the same reason the 7900GRE exists, to control the price of 7900XT, which has also bounced up since the GRE was launched. and it turns out that is not a limited-volume or “china-only” SKU after all, either.

How is that supposed to work when the 5600x3d is only available in the US at Microcenters?
That fringe existence doesn’t give it any relevance/impact for whole world market regions, i.e. Europe, where recently the 5800x3d went up in price, again, due to high demand.

WTF are you talking about? Zen cores aren’t stacked in any circunstance, Zen 3 exists in (planar, non-stacked) 8-core chiplet form, a 6-core Zen 3 chip (5500, 5600G, 5600, 5600X, 5600X3D…) is actually an 8-core Zen 3 chip with two cores disabled.
The only thing that is stacked is the 3D cache on the X3D models. Whether cores are defective or not has nothing whatsoever to do with stacking, because cores are never stacked, they’re just ordinary 8-core chiplets.
the 5600x3d is currently $200 at microcenter, so the 5700x3d will probably slot in between 250 and 270. with the 5500x3d being sub 200
I’ve been hoping for a 5900x3d since they said they still had plans for AM4 chips. It was just a rumor but I still had hope. Time for AM5 I guess

5700x3d kinda awkward. worse performance than 5600x3d due to clocks, but if you care about cores you can do normal 5700x.
I mean 5600x3d is only in microcenter so that rules out a huge portion of buyers. I’d almost have to choice but to buy the 5700x3d (assuming it’s available to me)
Hopefully with this launch comes an announcement of expanding the availability of the 5600X3D?
snagged it from microcenter about a week ago for $157. Upgraded from my 3700X and oh boy… Crazy value!
It’ll keep up, the 5600x3d is rather consistently behind 5800x3d by 5-10% because of the fewer cores. 5600x3d is clearly ahead of a 5700x and 5800x by a decent deal over 10%, I think the 5700x3d will generally perform like a 5600x3d but with much more stable multitasking while gaming. Naturally, lends it definitely ahead of a 5700x in games. Maybe this is a 4.1 all core guarantee, where a few cores could boost higher?
The 5500x3d is what I wonder about, with a price like the 5600 has it’d be an incredible budget cpu, but the omission of two cores will make more sensitive as it deals with OS and other apps lending only three undisturbed. Eventually it’ll perform like a 5600 maybe even lower average but perhaps still more stable fps.
Kind of thinking the same thing but no idea on actual performance. I picked up the 5600x3d a few days ago just haven’t had time to build it, and that gets within a few percent of the 5800x3d performance in most titles. I’m thinking the lower clock speeds will play a big role in performance compared to cores.
I think they cancel each other out on average. Hopefully though some threads will be allowed to boost a little higher, or can be setup to do so.

In terms of performance the 5800x3D lost its gaming crown to raptor lake and Zen 4, which are also much better at MT and oddly cheaper (13600k, 7600(x), 7700x).
The 5600x3D is on sale at Microcenter for $199, it couldnt even hold MSRP for 3 months. These new SKUs are bins with 400MHz less max boost, nearly a 10% decrease from the exist x3D SKUs. Zen 3 came out 3 years ago, and prices have nosedived so most people on AM4 probably already have Zen 3 at this point.

Only a small percentage of people in the u.s have immediate access to a microcenter and they don’t ship alot of their stuff not to mention those outside of the U.S.
AMD isn’t dumb they aren’t going to just put out something where they don’t think they can move units
Honestly a good swansong for am4. people that want an upgrade that can still go toe to toe with 14th gen intel for a cheap price get that upgrade, amd gets a bit more cash, heck some extreme budget builders may even do new am4 builds who knows.

i got a 6 core phenom ll for $100 at microcenter back in the day. it wasnt as good as my 2500k was but man it lasted almost as long in the back up/lan pc
I’m going to wait for the reviews, but the fact that the 5700X3D took a huge ding on the clocks, does not fill me with confidence.
That being said, if the TDP is 65 W and the 3D-cache saves the day, it would be a no-brainer for me (even though a 5800X3D would never hit 50 degrees in my two-rad custom loop).
That explains why my ASUS motherboard got a BIOS update “to support upcoming CPU[s]” last month.
No. 5700X3D and 550X3D are AM4. X670 is AM5. They can’t be used together.
