Daboll and Allen had a great relationship, Daboll really catered to Allen’s strengths and guided him away from his worst Favresque tendencies. I think that’s what’s hurt the Bills the most – when Daboll left for the Giants, along with a Bills receiving corps that’s still coming along outside of Diggs. Allen is a great QB who needs to continue to develop his flow and reads under pressure.

Think Giants fire daboll if this season continues as is? Or do they give him another shot for 1 more year?

It’s tough because Daboll did really well last year, way better than expected butbhas crashed down to earth hard. Doesn’t help that he’s been down two QBs either. I would guess they’d give him one more shot given that context but he’ll be on a tight leash

I honestly feel like he’s a victim of his year 1 success. He managed to get that team into the playoffs and so the franchise was like “we’re on the right path” instead of recognizing that Daboll and co. managing to get into the playoffs with that team was everything possible going right and that they needed to massively shake things up with their roster

He gets a shot with his own QB and if he can’t make them look good in year two/three he’s Nagy’d

It’s not a mystery why the Bills are struggling. It’s turnovers. Allen lead the NFL in turnovers last year, is leading it again this year and this year is 4 away from his total last year already. Every game they lost had significant turnovers.

Part of it might be scheme, and some of it is not his fault (like ball going through Davis’ hands) but if he doesn’t start protecting the ball consistently they won’t advance through the play-offs. They will be that team that always is in contention but never get over the hump.

This isn’t the 90s anymore where every QB had double digit turnovers every year. Teams just don’t turn it over this much anymore and it’s very hard to win games with that many turnovers and that starts with the QB.

The Bills decision to squib kick the kickoff with the Chiefs having multiple timeouts was stupid

teehee I don’t really agree with any of this but it’s a fun narrative that makes us look cool so I won’t explain why it’s wrong

It starts with McDermott; NFL teams are a reflection of their head coach. As much as McDermott’s sideline demeanor would suggest otherwise, this coaching staff is an unserious operation.

I have a hard time getting too angry with the players when they are saddled with uninspired and predictable schemes, all while the coaching staff makes the kind of amateur game management blunders that an 11-year-old playing Madden would have gotten correct.

Obviously it’s easy to see with the benefit of hindsight, but the indecisiveness and poor decision-making in key moments were there as early as the Houston playoff loss in January 2020.

How many coaches do the Bills need to part with before it becomes even more obvious where the problem lies?

I’ve said it before… The 13 seconds special teams coach was scapegoated , Frazier was scapegoated, Daboll left and now Dorsey has been scapegoated.

Seriously. There has only been one commonplace here. McDermott.

    1. Superstars QBs have adjusted to the new defensive mindset in the nfl. Josh has not yet.

    2. Bills played through their top 5 defense and special teams 19-21. The defense has been devastated by injuries the past two years (currently #1 in salary cap on IR)

    3. Coaching is good, not great.

That’s kinda it. Everything else is just media narratives and people who don’t know the team.

I’d argue bills have the wrong talent. Shave a bit off the defense and load the offense more. Give Josh Allen a better line and Josh Jacob’s, a real running game.

Have a borderline top 10 defense instead and better OLine and running game. It’s clear their defense doesn’t matter.

I actually find the Bills really likable and Josh Allen is so fun to watch but them getting spanked in the playoffs last year by Cincinnati, at home, after having the game cancelled and all the Damar Hamlin hype was really……pathetic and I am convinced they will never win anything.

They just don’t have it, and they don’t seem to really want it either.

Something has just felt off about them ever since the Bengals playoff game, from the Diggs comments to McDermott’s weird handling of the situation.

Something tells me that in 5-10 years, Secret Base is going to do one of their Collapse videos on the Josh Allen Buffalo Bills, and the 13 seconds game is going to be the fulcrum of it all.

Imo Collapse videos are becoming scarcer (I think they’re more expensive to produce and research), so they only save it for largely successful teams like the 2011 Giants or Patriots. I feel like they’d do a Deep Rewind since you don’t have to do as extensive and prolonged research
