I think it would be possible, with people’s consent, for an AI consisting of self-teaching and knowledge-retaining elements, in conjunction with elements capable not only of reasoning, but knowing our typical patterns of reasoning, combined with an LLM to :
- Gain access to our reddit accounts, and all other social media, and everything Google and Meta know about us, if possible.
- Get a full picture of each person-- everything they’ve ever done online, everyone they’ve ever known, everything they’ve ever written.
- Predict what the next reddit post or comment will be, and write it for us.
We could just choose from 3 to 5 options that are perfectly aligned with our thoughts, feelings, values, and ways of expressing ourselves in every kind of situation and context. After a while, our attention would be optional, and the AI could faithfully represent us on reddit and elsewhere.
I would call my AI The Hand. As in, “Speak to The Hand because the face don’t care.”
