Goodreads has launched the opening round for their yearly awards for the best books just recently. I skimmed through the categories myself, yet already saw quite mixed reviews about the suggestions for this year’s nominees.
Some categories like poetry and children books were removed (yeah, you can say that children ain’t a target audience for the Goodreads yet this platform always seemed to be well rounded).
Graphic novels is also something that was removed unfortunately. Although these ain’t my cup of tea, I’m almost sure it must be upsetting for a large group of people.
I can’t believe How To Sell A Haunted House by Grady Hendrix on Horror genre is being listed. This book is so horrible and is not deserved to be in this award nominees.

Yeah I DNF’d that one early. It was rough.
The book annoyed me so much especially the siblings mouth fighting each other.
I mean hidden pictures won last year and that was the dumbest book I’ve read in a long time
That one started out so good then it went on and I was like that’s the twist? That’s what this book is hyped up for? How is the protagonist so dumb
I actually think that and Horrorstör are his best books, mainly because he’s not trying to write about feminist women topics that should be left to women. I don’t understand the hype of final girls support group, my best friends exorcism or that southern guide to slaying vampires. I don’t think he’s good at writing women and I keep thinking why are publishers not letting women write these topics. The band one was also awful though. I’ve now figured out I only like Grady Hendrix when he does not try his hand at feminist topics.
